Biography
Mr Fizan Younis is a European Board Certified Consultant Orthopaedic Hand and Wrist Surgeon with over a decade of consultant experience and more than 10,000 procedures performed. His practice is dedicated exclusively to the diagnosis and treatment of hand and wrist conditions, ranging from common disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome and Dupuytren’s disease to complex reconstructive and sports-related injuries.He is the founder and Medical Director of IIS Health – The Cheshire Hand Clinic, the UK’s first dedicated hospital for hand and wrist surgery. Through this model, Mr Younis has helped establish a specialist, diagnosis-led approach to care, enabling patients to benefit from rapid access to consultation, on-site diagnostic investigations, and, where appropriate, same-day treatment.Mr Younis completed his medical training at the University of Wales College of Medicine and went on to undertake higher specialist orthopaedic training in the UK, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedics. He has completed advanced fellowships in hand and wrist surgery at internationally recognised centres, including McGill University in Canada and the Institut de la Main in Paris, where he further developed expertise in wrist arthroscopy and advanced surgical techniques. He was awarded the European Diploma of Hand Surgery in 2014.His clinical practice focuses on minimally invasive techniques, including wrist arthroscopy, endoscopic procedures, and ultrasound-guided interventions. He has also been instrumental in introducing WALANT (Wide Awake Local Anaesthesia No Tourniquet) surgery into clinical practice, enabling selected procedures to be performed without general anaesthesia and supporting faster recovery.Alongside his clinical work, Mr Younis has a strong commitment to education and training. He has served as Chairman of the AO UK Hand and Wrist Course and is an examiner for the European Diploma of Hand Surgery. He has also been involved in national and international research and previously held a role as Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire, reflecting his ongoing contribution to advancing standards within hand surgery
